Sprint subscribers are getting a new Android 4.4.2 KitKat build, namely LS995ZV7 starting to rollout to selected LG G Flex smartphones. The new update comes with the one specific job of featuring the new bug fixes and improvements. Details are scarce at the moment, but by experience sometimes phone carriers feel like they need to push out these small updates that were not anticipated to fix bugs that people were suffering from. The downside is that in the process of doing so, they also hold up the original schedule for the bigger updates. Now with that in mind, we are assuming that LG will put a halt to the scheduled Android 4.4.4 Kitkat update that many were hoping to see soon.
The enhancements listed in the official change-log including Voice over WiFi, Security and SMS text patches, a new HD voice icon and an update for the email signature. The software version labelled ZV7 will rollout in stages to everybody. As usual, patience is a virtue because it takes time before it finds its way around to everyone. It will come in as a notification just like all the rest. If you want to check manually navigate to Settings > About Device > Software Update > Check for Updates and it will ping back the results. Moreover, if you deny the installation when it comes as the notification these are the steps you will need to take to install the update because it won’t show up automatically again.
Moreover, we have a specific time frame given starting today and rounding up in the 16th of July. That means nobody will get this after that date. It isn’t a long time to wait so I wouldn’t bother attempting the manual installation process this time. However, if the file does become available and we see it there’s a chance we write it up so check back and see what happens.
Furthermore, you can check the official steps to find the update presented by Sprint here. The firmware is only making its way around the United States for people with a G Flex smartphone using the phone carrier Sprint.
We recommend everybody takes the time to backup their personal data and settings. The G Flex comes with 32 GB of internal memory that is a great place to backup and store market apps, call logs, MMS messages, photos, songs, videos and any other data. The phone doesn’t come with a Micro SD card for extra memory options, so if you don’t have enough space you’ll need to start deleting old content that you don’t need any more.
