Evan Blass, a reporter from EvLeaks, tweeted the official Nexus 6 press picture this morning just ahead of its release as we wind down the hours for the unveiling. Not many companies keep their smartphones and tablets locked up behind closed doors like the folks out of the GooglePlex. We see the iPhone leaks come out way ahead of the unveiling and the same is said for the HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. However, you should know that often it is the result of the companies throwing renders out into the wild to gauge what people are thinking about its design. From there they may wish to make some minor tweaks and adjustments. Not Google, though.

Google keep everything behind closed doors up until the end, apart from the specs that we are also sharing with you today. It’s worth noting that Blass from one of the biggest leak phone sites on the internet, isn’t always spot on the money with the Nexus range. Earlier this year he reportedly said that the Nexus 6 is cancelled and won’t be coming. We assume that’s to do with the Android Silver project whereby the Nexus range was disappearing altogether. In fairness, there’s a chance Google did have that in their minds and decided to stay with the official Nexus branding.

The camera sports a 13 megapixel shooter on the rear and a 2 megapixel snapper on the front for the social media photos. Whispers of a 4K camcorder on board are holding up. Additionally, the camera comes with optical image stabilization, autofocus, digital zoom, Geo tagging and face detection.

The hardware is impressive. The new smartphones comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 system chip, Quad core, 2700 MHz, Krait 450 processor, Adreno 420 graphics processor and 3072 MB RAM system memory. According to reports, the battery capacity is 3200 mAh.
