The Asus memo Pad FHD 10 is a neat little tablet with thick edges, but if you want to get passed its looks and focus more with what’s on the devices display, you’ll need to start thinking about installing some custom ROMs and custom recoveries to go with it. You can only do that after you find root access by using the guide below.

Turn on the tablet and navigate to the Settings > About Device menu and check that your tablet is running the 4.6.2 firmware version. It should say it on the display. If you are not running that version you want to search for the file to flash it manually, look for the over the air signals to update automatically or do not use the following guide. Without that firmware version it will not work and you can even risk bricking the device.

BEFORE WE BEGIN

  1. Make sure that you navigate to the Settings > Developer Options and enable the USB Debugging mode from there.
  2. If you do not see the Developer Options menu coming from the Settings then that means you need to unlock it. To do that you should go to the ‘About Device’ menu and tap on the build number at least seven times.
  3. Download the fastboot file by installing ADB and fastboot on Windows PC.
  4. Download the rooted system image.
  5. Download the Intel USB Drivers from our page here. You’ll see it listed under the ASUS name.

HOW TO ROOT THE ASUS MEMO PAD FHD 10 IN 4.6.2 FIRMWARE

  5. Connect the Pad to the computer using the USB cable.

  7. The command prompt lets us type in commands on the screen where the cursor is flashing.
  8. Type:
  9. fastboot flash system system_4_6_2_root.img.gz
  10. Wait for the flashing to finish.
