This new Samsung mobile announced in January of 2013. It was soon released and available to buy during March of 2013. It is an entry-level phone that comes at an affordable price. Its main feature is that it comes with the new 4G which give off amazing speed. All in all, it gives out good bang for your buck.

This phone, as you can see from the picture, came to us a little shorter and a little fatter than what we have come to expect in the flagship look. The same could be said for its performance also. It’s not a very popular handset, so finding reviews on this firmware for it is tough. Having said that, we do know 4.1.2 very well, and we can fill you in on what it has to offer.

First and foremost, what you want to take notice of here is how well it runs. It is way smoother than the other past build that you would have run. Anything from the first taste of Jelly beans to Ice Cream Sandwich of the old days will leave you wide-eyed when comparing to what we have here. It is so fluent and works so well it doesn’t even need any features on top of that to make you happy. You should never run into any system crashes, or slowness and everything is running great.

The Galaxy Express has received an official firmware update to the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean. There are two options to install this update. One way is manually, if it did not roll out into your region over the air. This one can also be downloaded directly from Samsung KIES. The other option is to follow this guide that won’t take long to update it manually. There are a few things you will need to check before you start.

Even though this one is a bit cheaper than the others, it still does have the great almighty Micro SD card slot. Embedded in here will be the card itself that you can use to back up everything that is on your handset. To take that a step further, we can then buy an SD card reader and then use a computer to save everything to a folder. Because we all have a tendency to know computer more than we do Smartphones, this will be a cinch.

It is always a good idea to do all necessary backups before starting the firmware update. Back up all of your apps and all of your data such as contacts and things you don’t want to lose.

Temporarily disable any security features such as antivirus running on a Windows-based PC or the ANdroid0based operating system so we don’t have them interfering with proceeding. Some people also like to turn off the firewall, but it is not 100% necessary.

The Galaxy Express comes with 8Gb of internal memory that people can use for storage. Some of that space will be taken up by the software and Android OS already, but the remainder does provide space for backup. Everybody wants to backup the call logs, SMS texts, videos, photos, and other personal media stored plus contacts. If you run out of space, there is an additional 32 GB of space up for grab when buying the external Micro SD cards of up to 32 GB. If you want to stay away from those Google Drive also offer a free service up to 15 Gb where they are glad to store your documents and other data in the cloud. If you just want to backup market apps use Helium from the Google Play Store. Go with Samsung Kies or sync with the Google account assigned to the smartphone to sync the contacts.

Make sure you enable USB Debugging Mode by visiting the Develop Options menu from the Settings menu.

Everybody needs to have up to date Samsung USB Drive to make successful connections between the smartphone and computer.

The guide uses Odin and Odin is only made for WIndows PCs ranging from Windows XP through to Windows 8. I recommend at least using Windows Vista because it is easier to save and locate files from the C: Drive if you wish to store them instead of delete them right away. If you just want them now and then gone you can save the files to the desktop and then remove them to the recycling bin afterwards to clear away the desktop clutter.
