The iPhone 5C is a device we should already know, once we get past the nice new glossy plastic colors they come in because it is much the same as last years iPhone 5 in terms of specs, so it’s important to not go past the visuals and dimensions before we jump in any further.

If you’re a fan of bigger Smartphones then you will instantly be thinking about getting the Galaxy S4 instead of the iPhone because it is not far off an inch bigger. As far as holding them goes, it’s the iPhone that actually arguably feels better. For a plastic phone it feels really great and the quality is top-notch. It’s also important to note that both of them are made of polycarbonate material.

Dimensions:

For the 5C:
4.9 x 2.33 x 0.35 inches
124.4 x 59.2 x 8.97 mm
4.66 oz (132 g)

For the S4:
5.38 x 2.75 x 0.31 inches
136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm
4.59 oz (130 g)

Performance is where the Galaxy S4 takes control of this duality. The S4 has the quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which is extremely highly regarded in the Android world. If we go inside of the iPhone 5C, we are still using the A6 processor. To be fair, Apple came up with that one before the S4 come about, but they are still using it at this lower end, the more budget device.

Of course, when it comes to performance there is more than just a processor involved. However, if we take a look at several of the benchmark tests that have been carried out by many experts in the field, they all tend to agree with one another.

Furthermore, the battery life of the S4 still manages to out-do that, of the 5C, even though it has the best performance.

To be fair, the budget version of this year’s iPhone wasn’t really in direct competition with the Galaxy S4. That fight is more fair when we take a look at Apple’s flagship, the iPhone 5S.

In conclusion, if it’s looks you are after and you fancy the iPhone 5C nobody would blame you for buying it. They do look fantastic and feel every bit as good as they look. However, if it’s everything else, this battle has to be given to the Galaxy.
