Even though today Android Lollipop 5.0 stole the show along with the new top-end Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 tablets from the official unveiling, we are still enjoying witnessing heaps of other smartphones get timely updates to the latter stages of KitKat. In this case we are talking about the Samsung Galaxy S4 mini. Thanks to some leaked documents from a website, we now know that late November is the time when owners of the handset will start to see the KTU84P firmware files arrive as a notification using over the air waves.
Since this is a leaked document it is by no means official just yet. We won’t know until the manufacturer or phone carriers release the news or set the signals alight and owners begin seeing the fresh firmware. Either way we expect that the international S4 mini GT I9190 and the Mini Duos GT I9192 both receive what we are talking about here.
As a reminder, KitKat is dull past the Android 4.4.2 Kitkat build that comes with transparent status and navigation bars, wireless printing, new color Emoji, improved landscape keyboard, full screen movie art from the lock screen, full screen album art and a brand new immersive mode for enriching your content experience making better use of the screen space for applications.
The official 4.4.4 comes with a revamped phone dialer, security patches, bug fixes, minor OS tweaks and not much else. It’s bitter-sweet for owners who have been waiting for so long to get fresh firmware. However, as it turns out, there wasn’t much to wait for anyway. That’s all about to change in a great way thanks to Lollipop and its vast array of features that will surly make it the biggest software splash since the Jump from Gingerbread to Ice Cream Sandwich.
The Mini range from 2013 is great if you wanted a small smartphone with High-resolution camera, Dual core processor, Lots of RAM, Small dimensions and Fast 4G mobile data support. It started with Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean out of the box with a TouchWiz Nature UX 2.0 UI.
You can view the leaked document from the official XDA Forum thread here. Don’t forget to backup your phone before starting the installation so you don’t run the risk of losing valuable data that isn’t saved. Additionally, you should notice the notification come OTA automatically and use the home WiFi connection to download. Mobile data isn’t cheap and it is also a great deal less stable when data traffic is high. High traffic comes during the times of OTA releases since many other owners are downloading the same firmware or software updates as you.
