The new age of wearable tech has begun and my personal favorite piece still to this day remains the Smartwatch. As most of the globe understands by now, thanks to its news coverage right around the world, Android took the bull by the horns and released its own brand of Android Wear that companies like LG will support by running the green robot operating system on it and not the other way round of LG announcing the watch first and letting the world know that Android was running on it.

That’s an interesting, new strategy that we haven’t observed before, and it will be fascinating to watch the results. In 2013 Samsung released the Galaxy Gear Smartwatch all by themselves and it pretty much flopped, with Samsung having to admit they were very disappointed with the results. Google and Android weren’t about to let that be the end of the brilliant idea of wearables, though, that it seems the world must love if we are to keep moving forward in technological advancements.

So, behind closed doors, Android has worked hard in a collaborative effort with LG, Motorola, HTC and others to create its own Android Wear label, and the beauty of it is that every organization has its own incomparable style and look thanks to a helping hand from fashion specialists.

After scoping the web myself, the most popular watch is the Moto 360 from what I’ve managed to see. People love it, and all the comments I see are in favour of it. I thought it looked a bit feminine for my wrist, and I did not enjoy the round shape at all. Later I overheard a Google spokesperson say that 80-85% of watches around the world are round. Now that I know that, it makes lots of sense that people seem to be loving the Moto 360. Furthermore, it is interesting the LG decided to go with the most square design form. Whenever we glance at the statistics, it is going to be less hot, but I am going to support it because I think it looks great.

Even though the way the LG G watch looks is a lot different to the Moto 360, it will still operate the in the same manner with a “Hello Google” message being uttered to run its smart side.

The other thing we love about this LG variant is that it will be the first of the Android Wear series on shelves starting Q2 of 2014. That means it will be out and ready to buy no later than three months time and potentially a lot sooner. The G watch has a 1.65-inch display and 4GB of storage, and that is about all the specs to note.

“The opportunity to work with Google on LG G Watch was the perfect chance for LG to really pull out all stops in both design and engineering,”said Dr. Jong-Seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With the LG G Watch, LG is continuing the milestones we’ve set in wearables following in the foot-steps of the world’s first 3G Touch Watch Phone in 2009 and the Prada Link in 2008. We’re confident that a well-designed device has the potential to take the smart wearable market by storm.”

For those of you that don’t dwell in America or adjacent to New York the image placed on the watch face on the LG G watch advertisement is mentioning a plane departing time at the John F Kennedy (JFK) airport. The JFK airport is one of the major airports in New York. It immediately that shows us just how useful these Smartwatches are for everybody and not just the geeks.
