Some people simply won’t go near a device that is used before and others love to snap up a bargain. If you are the latter then you will be interested to find out the Amazon Kindle Fire 8.9 LTE is up for grabs from Amazon for only $219. The catch? It is refurbished or otherwise known as second-hand with a few bits and pieces put back together. The one condition is that we know it works and technically it could see out the rest of its lifetime just as long as the original would have. A real optimist would argue that it could last even longer considering it has a newer part in it. Even better yet, this edition does not come with special offers so it will be ad-free and without any sponsors because we understand how much people dislike that.

stock render Amazon Kindle Fire HD

The deal comes from Amazon’s Gold Box section where they consistently dish out some great quality deals for people who have the money to spend. Kindle is becoming a bigger name in technology every month that goes by and the Fire tablets have a long history of being good buys and great bargains. Combine that with their entry into the smartphone market coming up and they could be a household name for years to come. We always call them cheap products because that is what makes them memorable and there is nothing wrong with that, even Android started off that way. However, there is a risk of price increases if they become a bigger name overt he next few years so there might not be a better timer to buy one of these tablets.

The beauty about the LTE version that we have here is that it is with 4G speed. That means, providing you have a decent internet connection, you can download/load pages faster than ever before. If you do a lot of web browsing, or plan on using NetFlix a lot then the 4G will cut hours out of your weekly time allowance as you wait for the web to download around you. That in itself makes this a worthy investment considering there are still a lot of devices out there — tablets and smartphone included — that are not running with the 4G yet.

This tablet came out with Android 4.0, has a physical display of 8.9 inches, a 1920 x 1200 pixels screen resolution, 254 ppi pixel density and IPS LCD technology. Capping off the display features is a multi-touch touchscreen, light sensor and scratch-resistant glass. The camera has a lot to be desired with only a 1.3 megapixel front-facing snapper and the lone feature of video calling. However, taking pictures wasn’t why this tablet is designed. For the hardware we have a TI OMAP4470 system chip, Dual core, 1500 MHz, ARM Cortex-A9 processor, PowerVR SGX544 at 384 MHz graphics processor, 1024 MB RAM and 32 Gb of built-in storage. That isn’t a lot of space for a tablet so if you want more you will have to shop for the Amazon Kindle Fire 4G LTE 64 GB version instead.

The recommended retail price for the 32 GB Kindle Fire 8.9 LTE is $499. That is a saving of well over 50% from when it first came out in November of 2012.
